Well, since the morons made consciousness-expanders illegal, they shouldn't wonder that people use what's available - consciousness-dullers.

* OTC cough medicines - 9% of teens have abused cough medications, many of which contain the drug dextromethorphan or "DXM." When taken in larger-than-recommended doses, DXM causes a range of hallucinogenic effects.
This is a shocking statistic if true. Kids rarely abuse pseudoephedrine cough medicines (easier to take pills of that, and pseudoephedrine pills are sold as decongestants), so this would mean 1 in 11 kids has done DXM. I do wonder about the reliability of this survey? Good surveys would control for lying by asking "which specific brands"? Real DXMers would know at least not to take a brand that only has guaifenesin, etc. They might be dumb and take CCC, but would quickly realize a guaifenesin only syrup just gave no buzz.

This is another opportunity for our profession to step up and make a difference in people's lives. This is a serious problem in the United States, and the chiropractic profession should be the first to speak out against it.
