"A man charged with conspiracy to manufacture LSD was once sent by the government to Afghanistan to trade heroin for the return of some Stinger missiles, his defense attorney told a federal court jury on Thursday."

"Pickard and Apperson are charged with conspiracy to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 10 grams of LSD at a converted missile silo northwest of Wamego. Federal drug agents indicated there were chemicals enough to make millions of doses of LSD when they raided the 26-acre site in 2000."
