A Northampton man who drugged a teenager with cough syrup to entice her to perform group sex acts was denied admittance Wednesday into a program for first-time offenders.
Court records say Sean Loughran, 18, of the 1500 block of Poplar Street stole three bottles of Robitussin cough syrup with the help of a male juvenile on Nov. 11, 2002. The two encouraged a 14-year-old female to drink a bottle of the syrup to get high, documents say.
The 14-year-old drank the syrup and had to be rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, documents say. She suffered from "jitters, hypertension and rapid heartbeat," documents say.
A witness told police that Loughlin and his juvenile accomplice had planned to drug the 14-year-old, blindfold her and molest her.
Loughran sought admittance into the accelerated rehabilitative disposition program, a program that allows new offenders to wipe their crimes from their permanent records if they comply with conditions imposed by the probation department.
