Police suspect local youth have been abusing prescription and over-the-counter drugs in a field off Hillcrest Avenue after a landscaper found empty boxes, prescription bottles and receipts from local pharmacies Sunday afternoon, April 17.
Numerous bottles of Robitussin brand cough syrup and boxes of Coricidin cough and cold medicine were also found at the site.

Police found three garbage bags containing an empty prescription bottle dated Feb. 2, 2004, a receipt from a local pharmacy dated April 16, 2005 for Robitussin, and a plastic bag containing 16 empty Coricidin boxes.

Over-the-counter cold and flu medications can be dangerous, even deadly, if taken in high doses.

Reviewing a security camera videotape from Eckerd Drug at the date and time indicated on one of the receipts found on Hillcrest, police determined that a man age 18 or 19, wearing a black shirt and dark pants, purchased some of the over-the-counter drugs.

The prescription, filled at Eckerd Drug, was identified as propoxyhene napsylate, which is also called Darvocetem, a narcotic painkiller.

Perfect example of the media's idiocy nowadays. Notice how they don't specify what doses those are...

Sure, what they state is true, but extremely misleading.

I was under the impression that Darvocet (propo-n) had absolutely no potential for abuse because it isn't very effective. I also read somewhere that it is the most overdosed medication for the same reason.

I would think acetaminophen (apap) was more "over dosed(used)" than nearly any other named pharmaceutical. B)

For once, at last our poor unresponsive system of legislation helps instead of hinders :pr0zac:

Damn, that's a lotta CCC! I remember in my early DXM days, during group trips, we would have to find a way to dispose of 10 or 15 CCC boxes all at once. We would find them weeks or even months later, hiding in corners behind the trash cans, under beds, in cabinets, all over the place. :shake:

...I find that setting any kind of evidence you need to erase, on fire, till it burns to ashes...usually fixes the problem.

I guess the thought of using a paper shredder, scissors or just your hands to tear the boxes up never occured to you. CCC makes you into a Ctard. :magnus_grey:

Shit, I'm going to make an article of myself in Canada, I've got almost 50 sucret boxes saved up. How will I ever dispose of them?

Propoxyphene has a definite potential for abuse. Certainly, it is not as good a recreational drug as most other opiates/opioids. Heck, I even like tramadol more than propxyphene. Ironically, it seems to have a surprisingly strong potential to supress respiration, and a number of people have died from surprisingly low doses.

Was there any more of the article? Did the guy get arrested? What happened?

You just have to wonder how smart the person was to think of throwing them in a field? I mean if he wanted to dispose of it somehwere besides home he could have easily found a restaraunt or shop and drop it in their trash bins.

While heavily under the influence of DXM(or Coricidin) I find that proper trash disposal is normally of little concern. Especially for trippin teeny boppers. A profound revelation!

what in the world would this guy get arrested for... guy who asked. Littering? That'd be a bit much to be put in jail for. He properly obtained this script. And also, i'd assume so... but you know the saying of assuming... there is no evidence that he put the CCC's there. The reciept is just for the script and robo.

How is this news? Look in the bushes anywhere in my city and you'll find old bongs, empty booze bottles, what-have-you.
